The most common vision or eye problem is that of refractive errors, where light coming from an object the eye is aimed at is not perfectly focused on the retina due to one or more of the conditions listed on the buttons. These conditions can easily be optically corrected or compensated for by the use of glasses or contact lenses or a simple pinhole. They can be "fixed" permanently with refractive surgery, and sometimes temporarily with orthokeratology. Except for myopia, eye exercises will not affect these conditions significantly. Nor will the wearing or not wearing the proper corrective lenses make any of them better or worse. In the case of myopia, it may be that during the developing years (early childhood, teen years, early adulthood) the course of myopia can be altered. More about that will be found under the myopia button. |
