We recently acquired a digital retinal camera that takes amazing photos. Click on MillerLeft.jpg to view a picture Dr. Stacy took through an undilated pupil. The white object is the optic nerve head, actually a part of the brain, where we look for any subtle changes in glaucoma detection. The darker spot to the right of the nerve is the macula, where we look for changes due to macular degeneration, diabetes, and other conditions. The entire orange background is the retina and underlying choroid. The dark vessels are veins while the lighter ones are arteries. This is a normal eye. We are including retinal photography with every eye exam as an important documentation of the state of your eyes at this point in time. |
